PINHOLE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
WITH SCOTT MCMAHON

Saturday, June 9, 12 to 4 p.m.

$65 per person, all materials included

In this workshop with artist in residence Scott McMahon, participants will construct and photograph with their own homemade camera constructions. The focus will be on using this technology to capture the passage of time and the ephemeral. No previous knowledge of photography is required, just a curiosity of light, time, happenstance and a love for LOW-FI and DIY technology. A variety of ready-made pinhole cameras (both analog and digital) will be available to experiment with.

EXQUISITE CORPSE WITH DAIN Q. GORE

Saturday, June 16, 12 to 3 p.m.

$40 per person, all materials included

In this workshop with artist in residence Dain Q. Gore, participants will create and take home finished paintings based on the Surrealist game of Exquisite Corpse—a spontaneous, group-collaborated creature where the only limit is your own imagination. You and the others in the workshop will paint heads, arms+torso, and legs. When combined together, this “creature-creation” is an unexpected and unpredictable painting that is as unique as the people that made it!

The tradition of the “Exquisite Corpse” dates back to literary forms of the early 20th century, now popularized as a “Mad Lib” based on an old parlor game wherein the collaborators are given limited information and must create a story. The results can vary from the absurd to the profound.

"INGS" WORKSHOP WITH DAIN Q. GORE

Saturday, June 23, 12 to 3 p.m.

$50 per person, all materials included

An idea for a new art form developed by Dain Q Gore, “INGS” are not just things; they are also paintings, and puppets...they are all these things! INGS are art objects that emulate puppets, but are intended to be wall pieces. Somewhere between 2-dimensional paintings and sculptures, these objects represent an element of play as well as a thoughtful approach to the layered sensibility of painting.

In this workshop you will paint, cut out, assemble and take home your own INGS. Stop in to Dain’s studio during the month of June to see some of his own INGS in person.
